How many times have you started a diet or a new workout routine? Maybe you decided to “put away” some money for the future…or had a grand idea for a road trip across the country…Most of us have good intentions and a determination to keep consistent; however, when temptation draws near, we frequently succumb unintentionally. Before we know it, we are eating fast-food and watching a succession of football games to keep up with our fantasy teams, and spending the money we were going to save at a moment of materialistic vulnerability. Once we realize that we have fallen, we try again to save a dollar, to begin a new workout regime and to cut calories…some of us many more times than others.
In Isaiah 55, Jesus affirms God’s love and patience for all mankind. “6 Seek God while he's here to be found, pray to him while he's close at hand. 7 Let the wicked abandon their way of life and the evil their way of thinking. Let them come back to God, who is merciful, come back to our God, who is lavish with forgiveness.” (The Message) No matter how small, we all have needed a second chance and God has given us the gift and the opportunity to live a new life. If God has given us endless compassion and understanding when we lose our focus, when we lose our faith, and when we give in, we should, in turn deliberately give all of His children a second chance. God is with you no matter who you are or what you’ve done. -Aideen Carrick Comments are closed.
